#ChangeTheDate | Sydney Film Festival

Design Brief

Create a sample strategic communication product that aims to promote a seminar illuminating one aspect of the ‘Change the Date’ debate.

Design Statement

The organisation I chose to design for was Sydney Film Festival, my chosen medium an instagram post. After researching the organisation’s social presence and conducting an analysis of their chosen tone and aesthetic, I utilised Canva to produce all three images, compiling visual content and design elements to produce a product that echoed the organisation’s brand identity.

The posts persuade their target market to engage with the political cause through the manner in which they facilitate connection to the audience’s interests. Consistent with both the platform and organisation’s tone, text is worded casually with the inclusion of ‘emojis’ and humour, engaging the target market. A bright yellow colour was chosen as a recurring design motif throughout all three communication products, ensuring both a cohesive overall aesthetic and emphasising connectivity between all key features of the campaign. Salience is placed on bold font, headings and panellists ensures clarity in communicating key information and heightened memorability. The simplicity of Slide 1’s design generates intrigue whilst remaining consistent with the organisation’s aesthetic, arrows inviting the viewer to swipe and discover more.
